Working on an environment thumbnail sketch i did recently. still roughing things out here. 

Some more detail added to this. Replicating things such as stars and windows etc is so easy in Photoshop and a great way to add detail without too much effort, I don't know why i haven't utilized this more up until now. I'll keep at this for another session or too and see if i can't ramp up the detail some more, lets populate this baby!

Music and art for me go together so well. doodling to sigur ros' new album spawned this sketch which i"m keen to refine for quite some time. Amping up the colours here too trying to get out of my comfort zone. burn and dodge are my weapons of choice lately.

Quick painting after David Levy's Gnomon Workshop video on speed painting and use of custom brushes. definitely awesome design tools and a way of generating ideas i hadn't thought of before but now seems so obvious. check out David's work here: vyle-art.com

Life drawing is hard. but extremely educational. light/colour/bounced light/subsurface scattering/reflections/specular highlights/proportions. I don't feel like I've nailed those things but still - these are great practice.

went for a scifi city for the first time in a while. started out using 2 photos as a base the rest is painting away. trying to incorporate some subtle colour variation here and there. I'm enjoying doing these long portrait shots - will have to start doing some more.
